“Oh, I found people just like me!  I just love it!”

A group of teens and actors gather on the turf/set of "The Wolves"

YAC members meet the cast of “The Wolves” on set.

The Young Adult Council at Syracuse Stage is a free and engaging program open to students grades 9-12 from across Central New York. It’s designed to deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of theatre—no experience required.

YAC members attend every Syracuse Stage production and take part in post-show discussions that encourage thoughtful reflection and dialogue amongst their peers. In addition, students participate in monthly workshops held on Sunday evenings from 6:00–8:00 PM during the Syracuse Stage season.

These workshops are developed collaboratively—students suggest the topics, and Syracuse Stage’s professional education staff designs engaging, hands-on sessions to explore them. Workshops offer a balanced look at both onstage performance and behind-the-scenes production, helping students gain a well-rounded understanding of how theatre is made. From set design and directing to acting techniques and dramaturgy, participants receive insider access to the creative world of professional theatre.

No prior theatre experience is required—this program welcomes students of all backgrounds, whether or not they identify as performers, technicians, or theatre artists. All that's needed is curiosity, creativity, and an interest in learning more about the art and craft of live theatre.

Join the Young Adult Council to connect with peers, explore the inner workings of professional theatre, and become part of the Syracuse Stage community!
